The Duluth Huskies college summer wood-bat baseball team lost its 2018 Northwoods League opener Tuesday night, 6-3 at Mankato.

The Huskies, who trailed 6-1 to start the ninth inning, collected only four hits.

Catcher Omar Veloz (Fresno State) had a single and an RBI for Duluth (0-1).

Three Huskies pitchers scattered seven hits and walked nine. Andrew Stout (Liberty University) allowed four runs — three earned — in two innings of relief.

The North Division rivals wrap up a two-game series at 7:05 p.m. today at Franklin Rogers Park in Mankato.
