Former Duluth East and University of North Dakota power-forward Trevor Olson (right) expects to sign a professional contract with the Orlando Solar Bears in the East Coast Hockey League sometime next week, he confirmed Monday night.
“I’m not an NHL-caliber player right now, so my focus is to put in the work in the East Coast and possibly move up to the ‘A’ (American Hockey League),” said Olson, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound righthanded shooter. “I need to improve my skating, block shots and hit bodies, and stay ahead of the game. I will continue to be a role player.”
Olson had 11 goals and 35 points in 121 games during a four-year career at North Dakota.
