Essentia Health new hires

Dr. Bikash Khanal, a hospitalist, has joined Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center.

As a hospitalist, Dr. Khanal will care for patients who are hospitalized due to illness or injury.

“I enjoy many aspects of hospital medicine, including the variety of patients I get to take care of,” he said.

Dr. Khanal earned a medical degree from Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine in Kathmandu, Nepal. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

“Good communication is a key component to providing excellent patient care,” said Dr. Khanal. “I like being able to take the time I need with each patient to make sure they understand their situation and care options.”

Physician Assistant Sarah Lach has joined the Gastroenterology Department at the Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic.

“I chose this opportunity because Essentia Health’s mission and values match my own,” said Lach. “I truly believe we are called to make a healthy difference in people’s lives.”

Lach earned a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

“I’ve always had an interest in gastroenterology because of its variety and I look forward to practicing in such a diverse environment,” said Lach. “I am dedicated to improving my patients’ health and quality of life through my work.”

Nurse Practitioner Kate Pavlich has joined the Interventional Radiology Department at the Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic.

“I started my career here as a registered nurse, and I’m very happy to continue caring for patients as a nurse practitioner,” said Pavlich. “I’m very excited to join the great team in interventional radiology.”

Pavlich earned a master’s degree in nursing from Walden University in Minneapolis. She is certified as an adult/gerontology nurse practitioner by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
