Partners of the new housing development District Flats will host a grand opening event at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The much-needed housing development, located at 1306 Maple Grove Road, is the result of partnerships and community support. District Flats was recently awarded a $1 million grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), as well as investments from the City of Duluth and Saint Louis County, and community support from area employers who are in need of housing for their workforce.

Ryan Boman, with Melhus Management and PLB Properties, will be joined by Duluth Mayor Emily Larson, City of Duluth staff, Saint Louis County, and others to unveil the completion of the $14 million apartment complex. The development will offer 72 units of new workforce housing to meet the needs of residents and area employers seeking quality housing for their new hires. The project has been completed and Melhus is advertising for tenants.
