Lake Superior College gears up for the start of its fall semester with a special keynote motivational presentation Thursday by former Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Richard Coffey (right).
The presentation is part of LSC Development Days for faculty and staff which includes new faculty orientation, campus updates and sessions on student learning.
Coffey will speak from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. on Change, Attitude and Perseverance in the LSC Commons on the main campus. He will present on how to deal with personal and professional change. Representatives from community nonprofits have also been invited to attend. LSC President Patrick Johns will welcome faculty and staff at 8:30 a.m. prior to the speaker.
Coffey, a native of North Carolina, is a businessman and former professional athlete who served three years in the United States Army as an Airborne Paratrooper. He also starred in basketball at the University of Minnesota.
After a stint in the NBA, Coffey played and coached in Europe and Asia. In his professional career, he has started multiple businesses, worked in corporate America, and has given motivational presentations throughout the United States.
