Men’s Soccer: Yellowjackets 2, Concordia Moorhead 1

Concordia scored a goal early but the Yellowjackets drew even on Leonardo Paredes’ first goal of the season in the 42nd minute to tie the match. The Yellowjackets got the eventual game winner with just over 14 minutes to play on Gustavo Barbieri’s first of the year. The Yellowjackets outshot the Cobbers 19-11, and held an edge in shots on goal of 9-5. Ulrik Lager made his first career start and got the win, making four saves.

Volleyball: Yellowjackets 3, Marian 0
In the first match of the 2018 Stinger Classic the Yellowjackets earned the sweep over Marian. Brylee Colligan led the Yellowjackets with nine kills, while Taylor Howe and Ashlee Bayer had eight apiece. Emily VerWay had 32 assists. Defensively the Yellowjackets were outstanding and had three players in double digit digs, led by Karlie Leif who had 17.

Volleyball: Yellowjackets 3, Hamline 2
This was one of the best matches in recent memory. The Yellowjackets stormed out, winning the first two sets and then had match had a 24-20 lead in the third set before Hamline rallied, winning the next six points to stay alive. Hamline followed with a win in the fourth set, sending the teams to a deciding fifth. The Yellowjackets pulled away and were able to get the victory. Bayer was incredible with 19 kills, while Howe had 18 and Cami Sletta had 13. VerWay had a career-high 65 assists. Leif had 29 digs and Colligan added 23.
